Homecoming Mum Tradition

I’m new to Texas and have never heard of homecoming mums and garters until this year. What should I know about the tradition?

Help! Where do I start?

We know the choices can feel overwhelming! Start by deciding if you’d like to purchase a ready-to-ship design from our Classic Collection or build your own fully custom mum or garter. Our team is always happy to help you pull together the perfect design—email customerservice@howdymumco.com and we’ll walk you through your options.

Orders & Shipping

How soon will my custom piece ship?

Each piece is made-to-order in our Houston, Texas facility. Typical assembly time is 5–7 business days, but during peak homecoming season (early September through mid-October) please allow up to 10 business days before shipping. Shipping time depends on the rate you select at checkout.

Tip: If your homecoming event is October 1, we recommend ordering no later than September 10.

What’s your shipping policy?

We ship nationwide via USPS, UPS, and FedEx. Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on the speed and carrier you select. Once your order ships, you’ll receive an email confirmation with tracking information.

Track Order

Once your package leaves our facility, you’ll receive a shipping confirmation email with tracking details. Please monitor your tracking directly with the carrier; we are unable to make changes or expedite delivery once an order has shipped.

Lost or Stolen Packages

Howdy Mum Co. is not responsible for packages once they are marked as delivered by the carrier. If your tracking shows a package was delivered but you haven’t received it, we recommend:

  • Double-checking your shipping address
  • Checking with neighbors or other members of your household
  • Contacting the shipping carrier directly to file a claim (USPS, UPS, or FedEx)
We’re here to help with supporting documentation if needed, but we cannot refund or replace orders once marked delivered.

Returns & Exchanges

What is your return and/or exchange policy?

Returns are accepted for non-sale, non-custom collection items within 7 days of customer receipt. The customer is responsible for return shipping.

Sale items are final sale. No returns or exchanges.

Customized designs: We offer a 50% refund within 7 days of customer receipt, less a $25 labor fee for assembly and disassembly. Shipping and handling are non-refundable unless due to manufacturer error or a shipping error on our part.

How do I return my order?

Include your order number and ensure your return is postmarked within 7 days of receiving your item. Merchandise must be unused, unworn, and in original condition. We recommend a trackable shipping service (UPS or FedEx) for items valued over $75.

How do I exchange my order?

Exchanges for equal or greater value are accepted for non-sale, non-custom collection items within 7 days of receipt. We do not issue store credit. Please include your order number and mail to the address above.

Report an Issue

If your item was damaged in shipping, email us immediately at customerservice@howdymumco.com with photos. We’ll work quickly to make it right.

Products & Customization

Help! I want to add to/remove/re-work my current design.

Email customerservice@howdymumco.com as soon as possible. If your order has not yet entered assembly, we can usually accommodate edits. Once an item is in production, changes may require additional fees or may no longer be possible.

What are your mums made of?

Our mums and garters are built on a foundation of high-quality artificial chrysanthemums accented with premium ribbons, braids, trinkets, charms, boas, and other custom elements that reflect your school colors and personal style.

How do I care for my mum?

Store your mum or garter in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Many families keep them in shadow boxes or on display hooks after homecoming to preserve them as keepsakes.

Absolutely! Our design team loves helping customers create pieces that capture their personality and school spirit. Email us at customerservice@howdymumco.com with details about your school, grade level, and event date, and we’ll guide you every step of the way.

Do you have a brick-and-mortar store?

No, our production facility is located in Houston, Texas, but we do not have a storefront. All orders are placed online and shipped directly to you.

Do you offer wholesale supplier options?

Yes, we periodically partner with retailers and other mum makers for supplies, including our custom UV-printed acrylic trinkets. For details, email customerservice@howdymumco.com.

Discounts & Promotions

Can I combine discounts?

No. Discounts and promotional codes cannot be combined or “stacked.”

Can discounts be applied retroactively?

No. Discounts and promotions are valid only during the designated promotional period and cannot be applied to past orders.
